Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about our hosting, domains, and infrastructure. If your question is not here, our support team is available 24/7.

What is the difference between shared hosting, a VPS, and a dedicated server?

+
Shared hosting places your site on a server with other customers; you share resources and cannot install custom software, but it is the most affordable and the easiest to manage. A VPS (virtual private server) gives you dedicated, guaranteed resources and root access on a virtualised machine — you control the stack but manage the server yourself. A dedicated server is an entire physical machine reserved for you alone, offering maximum performance and isolation at the highest price. Most projects start on shared hosting, move to a VPS when they need control or guaranteed resources, and graduate to a dedicated server only when the workload demands it.

How long does it take to activate a new service?

+
Shared hosting, VPS, and SSL certificates are activated instantly — your service is provisioned within seconds of payment confirmation and you receive login details by email immediately. Dedicated servers are provisioned within one to four hours depending on the configuration and current stock, because each server is physically racked and tested before handover. Domain registrations are processed in real time with the registry and are typically active within minutes, though some country-code TLDs may require manual verification.

Can I upgrade my plan later without downtime?

+
Yes. Every tier — from shared hosting to dedicated servers — can be upgraded in place without migration, without downtime, and without a support ticket. Shared and VPS upgrades take effect immediately; dedicated server upgrades that involve a hardware change (more RAM, additional disks) are scheduled during a maintenance window of your choosing. You only pay the prorated difference for the remainder of the billing period.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

+
Yes. Every new hosting and server plan includes a thirty-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied for any reason within the first thirty days, contact support and we will refund the full plan fee. Domain registrations and SSL certificates are non-refundable once issued, because these are costs we cannot recover from the upstream registry. The guarantee applies to your first purchase of each service type.

Is a free SSL certificate included?

+
Yes. Every shared hosting plan includes a free Domain Validated (DV) SSL certificate with automatic renewal, issued through a trusted certificate authority. VPS and dedicated server customers can install a free certificate via Let's Encrypt with a single click in the control panel. Organisation Validated (OV) and Extended Validation (EV) certificates are available as paid add-ons for businesses that require additional identity verification.

Where are your data centres located?

+
Our infrastructure is hosted in Tier III and Tier IV data centres across the European Union, with primary points of presence in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Stockholm, and Warsaw. All data centres operate under EU law and are fully GDPR-compliant. When you order a VPS or dedicated server, you can choose the data centre location at checkout; your data stays in the location you select unless you explicitly migrate it.

What is your uptime guarantee and what happens if you miss it?

+
We guarantee 99.98% monthly uptime on all hosting and server products, measured by independent third-party monitors. If we fall short, you receive an automatic service credit: 10% for uptime between 99.7% and 99.98%, 25% for 99.0% to 99.7%, and 50% for uptime below 99.0%. Credits are applied to your next invoice on request — our monitoring data is the source of truth, so you do not need to prove the outage.

Do you provide backups?

+
Yes. All shared hosting and VPS plans include daily backups retained for fourteen days, stored on separate infrastructure from your primary data. Dedicated server customers can add managed backup as an option or configure their own backup strategy with root access. Backups can be restored from the control panel with a single click. We recommend supplementing platform backups with your own off-site strategy for critical data.

Can I transfer my existing domain to WebHostFlow?

+
Yes. Domain transfers are supported for most TLDs and typically complete within five to seven days. To transfer, unlock your domain at your current registrar, obtain the auth code (EPP key), and enter it in our transfer page. We extend your registration by one year at no additional cost beyond the standard renewal fee. During the transfer, your website and email continue to work without interruption, because the nameservers are not changed automatically.

Will you move my existing website for me?

+
Yes, and it is free on every plan. Give our support team read access to your current host, or upload a backup archive, and an engineer moves the files, the databases and the mailboxes for you. The copy is checked on our servers before anything changes; only then do we agree the DNS switch with you, so visitors never see a half-moved site. WordPress sites can also be moved with an All-in-One WP Migration archive.

Is email included with hosting?

+
Yes. Every hosting plan includes mailboxes on your own domain, with anti-spam filtering, IMAP and SMTP access for any mail client, and a webmail client you can open from any browser. The Starter plan includes one mailbox, Business includes ten, and Pro has no mailbox limit.

Which PHP versions do you support, and can I use SSH and Git?

+
PHP 7.4 through 8.3 are available and can be switched per site in the control panel, so an older project keeps running while a new one uses the latest release. SSH access and Git deployment are included on the Business and Pro shared plans, and every VPS and dedicated server comes with full root access. Staging environments, where you can test changes before publishing them, are available on Business, Pro and the WordPress and CMS plans that list them.

How do you protect my site from attacks?

+
DDoS protection is included on every hosting plan and filters attack traffic at the network edge before it reaches your server. The Business and Pro plans add a web application firewall, which blocks common attacks such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting, and automatic malware scanning of your files. Every plan also includes a free SSL certificate and supports HTTP/3, so traffic between your visitors and your site is always encrypted.

How quickly does support answer?

+
Support works twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and every ticket is answered by an engineer rather than a script. We guarantee a first response within fifteen minutes for priority tickets and within two hours for standard tickets. If we miss that target, the ticket is escalated to a senior engineer automatically and you receive a 5% service credit on your next invoice. Pro plan customers receive priority response on every ticket.

How do you handle my personal data under GDPR?

+
All of our infrastructure is in the European Union and operates under EU law. We collect only the data needed to provide the service, never sell personal data, and do not use it to train external models. Usage logs are deleted automatically after ninety days and backups after fourteen. You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time, and we answer every request within thirty days. The full details are in our data processing policy.

Do you run scheduled maintenance, and how will I know about it?

+
Yes, occasionally — for hardware replacements and platform updates that cannot be applied live. Scheduled maintenance is announced at least seventy-two hours in advance and carried out during a published maintenance window, when traffic is lowest. It does not count against the uptime guarantee. Any other downtime, including network outages and hardware failures, does count, and service credits apply as described in our service guarantee.
